EFM: Emerson ROC Configuration

Configuring the Emerson ROC Driver consists of configuring global resources, creating and configuring a device connection, and defining the TLP data to poll. The following sections describe the configuration process.

After polling begins, TLP data is available as standard OPC tags within Ignition Designer. Alarm, Event, and History records can also be collected and published through MQTT Transmission or Common File Exchange (CFX).

Configure Resources

  1. Navigate to Config on the left-hand sidebar menu.
  2. Scroll down to find EFM Emerson ROC → Settings.
  3. Under Settings, you can configure the global resources used by Emerson ROC device connections.

TLP Definitions

TLP Definitions specify the TLP point types and parameters available to Emerson ROC device connections. Global TLP Definitions can be used by multiple device connections. The Emerson ROC Driver includes default TLP Definition files for supported ROC devices. Download, then upload the definition file that corresponds to your device.

FB107FB107-TLPs-V1_0.csvTLP definitions for FB107 devices.
ROC800ROC800-TLPs-V1_0.csvTLP definitions for ROC800 devices.
User ProgramUserProgram-TLPs-V1_0.csvTLP definitions for User Program applications.
  1. Under Config → EFM Emerson ROC → Settings, click → Create new TLP Definition...
  2. Select the desired Definition file, then Upload.
  3. Click Create New TLP Definition.

EFM Mappings

EFM Mappings define how TLP data is mapped to fields in EFM records. The Emerson ROC Driver supports Configuration Mappings and Periodic Mappings.

Configuration Mappings

Configuration Mapping files define how TLP values are mapped to fields in an EFM Configuration Record. They can also transform TLP values by selecting specific bits or mapping raw values to descriptive values.

  1. Click → Create new Configuration Mapping...
  2. Select the desired mapping file, and Upload.
  3. Click Create New Configuration Mapping.

Periodic Mappings

Periodic Mapping files define how TLP values are mapped to fields in an EFM Periodic History Record. They also specify the logical type represented by the TLP and the archive type used for the value.

  1. Click → Create new Periodic Mapping...
  2. Select the desired mapping file, and Upload.
  3. Click Create New Periodic Mapping.

TODO ~~

Create a Device Connection

After configuring the required global resources, create a device connection for each Emerson ROC device by following the Create a Device Connection tutorial.

Configure TLP Definitions

After creating the device connection(s), select the TLP Definitions that apply to the ROC device.

Configure TLP Templates

Create TLP Templates to define logical groups of TLPs that will be polled together.

Configure Poll Groups

Create Poll Groups to define which TLP Templates are polled for each logical number and how frequently they are polled.

Enable Polling

After the required TLP Definitions, Templates, and Poll Groups have been configured, enable the appropriate Poll Group entries to begin polling the ROC device.

Once polling begins, verify the resulting TLP data in Ignition Designer using the OPC Tag Browser.
