Module Installation Guide

Before installing a Cirrus Link module, you must have an Ignition Gateway installed and download the desired module file.

Before You Begin​

Install Ignition​

Ignition is an industrial application platform developed by Inductive Automation that provides SCADA, HMI, industrial communication, data collection, and visualization capabilities.

Cirrus Link modules run within the Ignition Gateway and leverage Ignition's built-in features, including tags, scripting, database connectivity, and user interfaces.

Cirrus Link MQTT modules are available from the Strategic Partner Modules section of the Inductive Automation Downloads page.

  1. Navigate to the Downloads page.
  2. Select the desired Ignition version.
  3. Open the Strategic Partner Modules tab.
  4. Download the Cirrus Link module (.modl) file you want to install.

Important ⚠️ Verify that the module version is compatible with your Ignition Gateway version before downloading. Compatibility information is provided on the download page.

Prerequisites​

Before continuing, ensure that:

  • Ignition is installed and running.
  • The desired Cirrus Link module (.modl) file has been downloaded.
  • You have access to an Ignition account with Gateway configuration privileges.

Install a Module​

  1. Open the Ignition Gateway web interface. The default URL is: http://localhost:8088.

  2. Log in to the Gateway.

  1. On the left-hand navigation panel, navigate to Platform → Modules.

  2. At the top right-hand corner of the page, click Install or Upgrade Module +.

  3. Click Choose File... and select the module file to install.

  4. Click Install Module.

Accept the License and Certificate​

Depending on your Gateway configuration, you may be prompted to accept a license agreement or trust a module signing certificate.

If prompted, select I accept the terms in the license agreement, then Accept License.

Verify Installation​

After successful installation, the module will appear under the Platform tab under Modules, as well as in Connections tab.

Upgrading Modules​

If you are upgrading modules, you may have to delete and disable the module from the Platform → Modules page.

  1. From the list of modules, select the module you want to upgrade.
  2. In the top right hand corner, you may delete and/or disable the module.
  3. Restart your Gateway by following the yellow warning prompt at the bottom of the screen.
  4. On the Restart Gateway? prompt, select I understand the risks and would like to proceed, then Restart Gateway.
  5. Follow standard installation instructions for the new upgraded module (above).

Install Additional Modules​

Repeat these steps for each Cirrus Link module you want to install.
