Offline Licenses
Overview
Offline Node-locked licenses are intended for Chariot® MQTT Server instances that do not have outbound internet access. This includes air-gapped industrial networks and high-security environments where outbound internet access is prohibited.
Offline activation uses a one-round-trip process with Cirrus Link Support. Chariot generates a Usage Request, which is sent to Cirrus Link Support. Support then provides a Usage License file that is uploaded into Chariot.
Prerequisites
Before beginning the offline activation process, ensure that:
- The Chariot MQTT Server host has no outbound internet access.
- Security policies prohibit the Chariot host from contacting external services.
- The Chariot MQTT Server instance is installed and accessible through the Chariot MQTT Server Web UI.
- You have a valid Chariot License available for activation.
Note: Offline licenses are Node-locked and are intended for a single Chariot server.
License Activation
-
Log into the Chariot MQTT Server Web UI and select License from the left-hand menu.
-
In the License page wizard, select Offline as the license activation method.
-
Provide the text file containing the Chariot License Key.
The license can be provided by dragging and dropping the file, pasting the key directly, or clicking the upload button and selecting the file.
-
Confirm the license information to finish the initial license setup.
The license will not be activated yet. Instead, Chariot will provide an option to generate a Usage Request.
-
Click Generate Usage Request.
The Usage Request contains the information required by Cirrus Link Support to generate a Usage License for the Chariot instance.
-
Save the generated Usage Request and send it to Cirrus Link Support.
-
Cirrus Link Support will generate the Usage License and return the license file.
-
Return to the License page in the Chariot MQTT Server Web UI.
-
Upload the Usage License file provided by Cirrus Link Support.
-
Confirm the upload to complete the activation.
Once the Usage License has been successfully applied, the Chariot MQTT Server will be licensed for use.
Note: Offline activation does not require the Chariot MQTT Server to contact an external licensing service. Communication with Cirrus Link Support is performed separately from the Chariot server.
License Changes
Offline activated licenses cannot be updated through the Online reactivation process.
If changes are required for an Offline license, contact Cirrus Link Support for assistance.
