Chariot Client

Overview

The Chariot Client is a built-in MQTT application for connecting to and interacting with multiple MQTT Servers from a single interface. It supports simultaneous connections, MQTT topic subscriptions and publishing, and real-time visualization of messages, history, and topic structures. The Client provides control over MQTT QoS levels and the retain flag, with support for decoding plaintext, Sparkplug B, Hex, and Base64 message payloads.

Prerequisites

Before using the Chariot MQTT Client, you must Install the Chariot MQTT Server, if you have not done so already. Choose your desired installation method (ie. AWS, Azure, Linux, Windows) on the left hand drop-down menu.

Add a Server Connection

To create a new MQTT server connection:

  1. From the Dashboard, navigate to MQTT Client > Client tab on the left hand side bar.
  1. Click Add Connection, this opens the Create Connection modal.
  2. Configure the connection settings as prompted. Note: Name is required.
  3. Click Save.
  • The client can connect to any MQTT server, including public brokers such as test.mosquitto.org.
  • If connecting to the local Chariot MQTT Server instance, ensure the trial timer is enabled so the server accepts incoming MQTT connections.
  1. After creating a connection, its status and Connect/Disconnect control appear in the upper-right corner of the window.
